Preparing for childbirth with movement and breath
Labour is a process that demands letting go of inhibitions and attitudes. The practice of yoga fully supports this and is a great training ground for the experience of birth.
Yoga for labour workshops are designed to help you feel in control of your own labour and prepare you for the work ahead. During the morning, you practice movement, breathing and visualisation techniques to cultivate a greater understanding and confidence in labour and childbirth. You learn how to move during labour, how to stay focused and calm, how to ‘go inward’ and how to trust in your own body.
The workshops are suitable for all women, whether you have already practiced prenatal yoga or not. They are ideal for those in their late second and third trimesters and will give you a good grounding in effective and simple yogic techniques for labour and birth.
All workshops last 2 and a half hours. The workshop finishes with a deep yoga nidra – a particular type of relaxation known as ‘yogic sleep’ that is deeply soothing and calming.
